Frequently asked questions
Does ESA qualify me for home energy grants in BT4?
Yes. Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) is a qualifying benefit under the Warm Homes Plan. If you receive ESA and your BT4 home has an EPC rating of D, E, F or G, you may be eligible for funded energy improvements. Submit the form to check your eligibility.
Which type of ESA qualifies: income-related or contribution-based?
Income-related ESA is a qualifying means-tested benefit under the Warm Homes Plan. Contribution-based ESA may also qualify depending on the specific scheme element. Submit the eligibility form to confirm your situation, and we will check against the current scheme rules.
What improvements could I receive?
Eligible measures include loft insulation, cavity and wall insulation, air source heat pumps, smart heating controls, and solar panels. The combination recommended is determined by a free survey of your BT4 property.
How much funding could I get?
Eligible households can receive up to £30,000 in funded home improvements. The exact amount depends on your property's energy rating and which measures are required. The eligibility check and survey are both free.
Can I apply if I am a private tenant receiving ESA?
Yes, if your landlord provides written permission for the work. Owner-occupiers and mortgage holders apply directly. If you are a housing association or council tenant, your landlord may be able to access funding through a separate route.
Is the eligibility check free?
Yes. The online form is free and takes about 60 seconds. If you pre-qualify, an accredited installer in BT4 will contact you to arrange a free survey. There is no obligation to proceed.
