Warm Homes Plan

Warm Homes Plan Grants for Bungalows

Bungalow owners in your area can benefit significantly from Warm Homes Plan grants. Bungalows have a large roof area relative to floor space, meaning loft insulation alone can make a substantial difference. Heat pumps and wall insulation may also qualify.

Up to £30,000 for eligible bungalow owners

Frequently asked questions

Are bungalows eligible for Warm Homes Plan grants in your area?

Yes. Bungalows are excellent candidates for Warm Homes Plan grants, especially for loft insulation. Because a bungalow has no upper storey, the entire ceiling is exposed to the roof space, meaning a large proportion of the home's heat can escape upward if there is no insulation. Many your area bungalows built before 1990 qualify.

Why are bungalows particularly good for loft insulation?

A bungalow has all its living space on the ground floor directly beneath the roof. This means the heat loss through an uninsulated loft is proportionally greater than in a two-storey house. Installing 270mm of mineral wool insulation is one of the fastest and most effective improvements available under the Warm Homes Plan.

Can I get a heat pump in a bungalow?

Yes. Bungalows are often well-suited to air source heat pumps because there is usually sufficient outdoor space on at least one side for the outdoor unit. Insulating the loft before installing a heat pump is strongly recommended. The free survey will assess both measures together.

Do I need to receive benefits to qualify?

The main Warm Homes Plan route requires a qualifying means-tested benefit (Universal Credit, Pension Credit, or similar) and an EPC rating of D or below. Some areas may qualify through the LA Flex route regardless of benefit status. The eligibility check takes 60 seconds and confirms your specific situation.

What if my bungalow is a new build?

Newer bungalows built after 2000 tend to have better insulation and higher EPC ratings, and may not meet the threshold for Warm Homes Plan funding. However, if your property's EPC is D or below, it is worth checking. The free eligibility form is the quickest way to find out.

Is the eligibility check free?

Yes. Submitting the form is free. If your your area bungalow pre-qualifies, an accredited local installer will contact you to arrange a free home survey and explain all the funded measures available for your property.
